| D1P008: Description of project objectives/concepts | The project aims to investigate the performance, cost and benefits of a mixed-use solar community in London/Ontario. Large-scale PV installations on roofs, facades, and parking lots are combined with a microgrid that has battery storage and an EV charging infrastructure. In the living lab project, various decarbonization strategies are investigated in real-life situations and evaluated for their impact on reducing carbon emissions and improving community resilience. Residents and users will be key stakeholders in this community living lab, bringing public and private actors together. Digital twins facilitate design strategies for clean, flexible, and reliable energy supplies. Taking this approach will allow us to gain a strategic understanding of how these technologies might be best used. |

| D1P009: Description of project upscaling strategies/potential | This project examines occupants' acceptance of neighbourhood and community-level electrification technologies. Structured feedback will also enhance the design of these communities. Concerning the technical aspects, it focuses on energy efficiency, energy management, and technology integration in buildings and the neighbourhood. In addition, it addresses design, economics, and regulatory issues. It seeks to develop decision-making tools, business models, and policy recommendations to support the widespread adoption of electrification strategies. |
